Free Fall eBook Peter Cawdron
This story begins inncoent as an astronaut on a solo mission is orbiting the Earth. He attempts to make contact and gets no response. He ffollows all the correct protocal, following every rule and precaution until he finally makes contact with a child. No adult, no Houston but a young girl. This gets his blood boiling and he drops the rules and protocal with no other thought than getting to the girl. For a short story the plot and characterization are well developed. There wasn't much to solve as I'd figured out te ending yet I couldn't stop listening. The authors words kep me on the edge of my seat and I cringed several times. I even listened a second time to this story with a couple days.
ts one of those stories that made my mind think what if... the possibilities are endless. Great story!

Free Fall eBook Peter Cawdron Reviews
Really enjoyed this, mostly because it offered a different perspective to the zombie apocalypse dystopian story that permeates all media these days. Good mix of hard science and slight future view without being dry like most Hard Sci-fi stories.
Spoilers, dear What a unique perspective on a zombie apocalypse! Never before have I stopped to consider what might happen to those in space at the time an apocalypse occurs. Fun lead in, I'm assuming, to the author's zombie series. Looking forward to checking them out.
An interesting mystery. An astronaut returns to earth to encounter radio silence. Earth is quiet. This mystery builds to an interesting revelation. Overall I enjoyed the story, but it's at its best every step up to the revelation behind the mystery. Once revealed the story becomes fairly routine.
This was a gripping short story from Cawdron that I loved. Everything felt so real, and you get caught up in the protagonists mission to find and rescue a lone survivor named Hazel, and you're cheering for Jackson, hoping he'll make it, the entire time. I can't wait to dive in to the rest of Cawrdon's extensive works. Glad I found this one.
Free Fall by Peter Cawdron is a short story prequel to the What We Left Behind series. It is set in the beginning of the zombie outbreak and Jackson is in space and has no idea what is happen on earth.
Free Fall is a short story but has all the creep factors a novel has! An astronaut is coming home but isn't about to contact anyone at all. He opens all channels and gets a little girl and what she says chills him to the bone. From there, he does something very unusual. Great story.
I love this narrator anyway and he does an extra special job here!
Well, I got this not realizing it was a VERY short story. How the main character gets from space back to Earth is very rushed and not plausible. I believe this is meant to get readers interested in the actual full length novels that come after this one. The little girl from this one is a teenager in the novel that follows. I was really hoping to read a story about a guy in space, stuck there and struggling to get back home. But since it rushed it so much and dove into a zombie filled world, I was a bit disappointed. I do love zombie books, but was in the mood for sci-fi when I got this. So, it's 'okay' but very short.
