A fiery horse with the speed of light, a cloud of dust, and a hearty “Hi Yo, Silver” -- The Lone Ranger!

Even if you grew up watching The Lone Ranger, you may prefer the radio Masked Man, once you become familiar with him. Why is that? How did one version differ from the other? How were they the same? Why did The Lone Ranger never answer the question, "Who was that Masked Man?" Did he have a sense of humor? How can YOU access the radio episodes today? These and more questions are answered in this, the sixth volume in this series.

This volume reviews an episode that's one of the author's favorites because it most resembles how The Lone Ranger behaved on the radio. He was impressively take-charge, bold, and downright ruthless when handling Bad Guys and lax lawmen alike. The other episode was adapted from a radio script too, as were most of the black and white television episodes.

Did you know that The Lone Ranger…

>> was created back in 1933 as a radio drama? Over 3,300 radio episodes were broadcast over more than 21 years.
>> radio show once featured a beautiful woman who loved the Masked Man and knew who he was? This young lady was on the show for months but never let the Ranger see her face.
>> had a nephew who rode Silver's son and became the father of Britt Reid, The Green Hornet?
>> Silver wore silver horseshoes?
>> The only time Clayton Moore ever shouted "Hi Yo, Silver" on film was in a Ray Ban sunglasses commercial?
>> As far back as 1938 Tonto has always been portrayed on film by a full blooded Native American - until Johnny Depp of course.

Even if you were lucky enough to watch the Clayton Moore - Jay Silverheels TV series, or even luckier and listened to the Earl Graser or Brace Beemer radio episodes, your memory may have distorted things over time. And it's a cinch that Disney, the producer of the new Lone Ranger movie, doesn't have a clue.

Nowadays, most people's perception of who The Lone Ranger and Tonto were, is formed more from Lone Ranger jokes than from the actual radio and TV programs. Many people are under the wildly incorrect impression that Tonto was a servant or acted subserviently. And they have no idea how charismatic, commanding, intimidating, and sometimes downright scary the original radio Lone Ranger could be. They also don't know that the radio Masked Man did not always act in a 100% politically correct manner.

This series was written by one of the world's foremost experts on the actual content of both the radio and television episodes. In appreciation for her contributions to The Lone Ranger online forum, she was awarded the title of "The Lady Ranger".

In each of the books in this series, you will find two or three television episode reviews and one essay on a general Lone Ranger topic. Each review consists of a detailed synopsis of the episode, quotes of memorable dialogue, and commentary, questions and criticism. Some also include a discussion of a topic that relates to the episode, such as the use of torture by fictional villains and heroes of the 1930s, 40s, and 50s.

The Lone Ranger 6 The Classic TV Series edition by Clare Sieffert Humor Entertainment eBooks

I've been a Lone Ranger fan for a very long time. But I'm not old enough to have listened to the original radio show. I knew that The Lone Ranger had been created as a radio drama; but that's all I knew.

I've always been curious about how the radio show must have differed from the TV show that I remember with such fondness. I mean adaptations in different media usually change stories and characters almost out of recognition. Just think about how Johnny Depp treated the characters of the Masked Man and Tonto with such contempt in his recent fiasco of a movie.

After reading this 6th volume in this entertaining series, I now know that the original radio characters were very faithfully adapted for television, because the same company created both. Yet there WERE differences between the two versions and those differences are clearly described in this book. I am now very interested in listening to the over 3,300 radio episodes and, thanks to this book, I know where I can find them inexpensively.

I also enjoyed the two TV episodes that were reviewed and synopsized in this volume. This whole series is highly recommended for all Lone Ranger fans.

The Lone Ranger 6 The Classic TV Series edition by Clare Sieffert Humor Entertainment eBooks Reviews

The Lone Ranger has always been on my nostalgia list. I think Ms. Sieffert has helped nudge it to the top. She has revived my interest to the extent of my dusting off the old VCR and hunting up my ancient Lone Ranger recordings. Thanks for the interesting books.
This is the most complete compendium of Lone Ranger lore I've ever seen! Clare is extremely knowledgeable about the whole series, starting with the radio show up through the new movie, and she shares that knowledge in this series of books. She even drew the cover art herself!
I am really enjoying this series! Even more information on the legend of the Long Ranger and Tonto, his trusty companion. Written by someone who adored these characters and spent the time to research.
If you want to learn about the Lone Ranger, this is the series for you. Added are images of the TV series and summations of some of the most telling and interesting adventures. You may want to consider renting some of the shows after you read this series. Great insight!
The Lone Ranger - 6 by Clare Sieffert brings back awesome childhood memories for me. I remember watching reruns of these shows with my dad. The Lone Ranger always rode away and the town was at peace for now. At least until the next bad guy rode in!

It was the rangers dry sense of humor I liked most. I also like the fact the author talks about recurring characters and Lone Ranger humor at the end.

This story is well written and exactly the style I remember watching. Give his book a read and let the author know your thoughts!
It is almost impossible to find anyone today who has not seen Clayton Moore as the Lone Ranger,
from years of television shows plus a pair of movies, in re-runs or places like Netflix or on DVDs. But
all of that is but a small part of the character, compared to the more than 20 years of radio adventures
heard three times every week. That's where the character began, and the radio show spun off everything
else from cartoons to movie serials to comic strips and books to novels to TV and big-budget films.
Clare Sieffert not only explores how the radio show influenced all else, but she will whet your
appetite to hear those shows - and we can (she provides places where they can be ordered or
downloaded). I remember hearing some of those shows, and always thought they had the
best acting, narration, music, sound effects and scripts of any show on radio. For me, Sieffert's
exploration of them in this book is a wonderful trip down memory lane.
This book was plenty of fun. I really enjoyed the nostalgic look back in time.

As I understand it, each of the books in this series reviews two or three of the classic TV episodes. and includes an essay on a more general topic, relating to The Lone Ranger. Each review gives a detailed synopsis of the episode, complete with dialogue quotes and other commentary. Some of the reviews also include a discussion of a topic that relates to the episode, such as the use of torture by fictional villains and heroes of the 1930s, 40s, and 50s.

This particular Volume includes a very informative essay about the original radio show that inspired the TV spin-off. It answers questions like How did the radio version differ from the TV version? How were they the same? Why did The Lone Ranger never answer the question, "Who was that Masked Man?" Did he have a sense of humor? And how can we readers access the radio episodes today?
